Is a family-run organisation comprising Christchurch Pharmacy, Christchurch Clinics, and Christchurch Cares. Founded on a commitment to integrity, compassion, and community service, we aim to support individuals and families in achieving better health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Our story began in 2003, when Baba Akomolafe (Pharmacist) and Dupe Akomolafe (Medical Doctor) relocated to Braintree to revitalise a small run-down pharmacy on the High Street. This marked the beginning of what has become a multi-service health and social care provider, now firmly embedded within the Braintree, Essex community
Today, both Baba and Dupe are recognised as Health and Social Care Entrepreneurs, leading with a strategic and forward-thinking approach that spans Community Pharmacy, Private GP Clinical Services, and Domiciliary Care.
Together, they have also been nationally acknowledged as pioneers in strengthening collaboration between GPs and Community Pharmacists; the “dynamic duo” partnership that has been described as a “marriage made in heaven”. Their joint work has contributed to national conversations around integrated primary care, mental wellbeing initiatives, and the future of collaborative healthcare models.
Baba continues to champion a “visionary” approach to Pharmacy, using social media and speaking platforms to encourage innovation and service-led transformation across the Community Pharmacy sector. His advocacy focuses on building sustainable, modern Pharmacy businesses that better serve local communities.
Dr. Dupe has led the development of Christchurch Clinics into a centre for modern clinical private services, with specialist focus areas including weight management, women’s health, menopause care, lifestyle medicine, and preventive healthcare. Utilising two decades of NHS GP experience, and her own personal journey, she emphasises personalised, evidence-based care that supports long-term wellbeing.
Since its early years, Christchurch Pharmacy has grown significantly; becoming one of Braintree’s fastest-growing pharmacies and relocating to Blandford Medical Centre in 2008. That same year, Christchurch earned two Mid-Essex Business Awards for Innovation and for Staff Training & Development. In 2025, Christchurch was again recognised for excellence, receiving the Pharmacy Technology Award at the Pharmacy Business Awards. Christchurch Clinics continues to operate from its High Street location, and in 2010 we expanded further by acquiring Grapevine Employment Agency, now Christchurch Cares, strengthening our capacity to deliver high-quality domiciliary care.
Faith remains central to the ethos of Christchurch Health Centre. Our guiding principle of “transformation by healing and nurture” shapes our approach to care and values and thus the culture within our teams. We remain grateful for the opportunity to positively contribute to the health and social wellbeing of those we serve. Our multidisciplinary team includes medical doctors, pharmacists, audiologists, osteopaths, health care assistants, specialist carers, and a dedicated care management team. We hold contracts with Essex County Council for domiciliary care and with the NHS for pharmaceutical services, while also offering a comprehensive range of private clinical services.
We are committed to developing healthcare professionals and have been registered as a Pre-Registration Pharmacist training site since 2005. We currently support three trainees each year, reflecting our longstanding dedication to education, mentorship, and workforce excellence.
